Ahrefs Promo Codes – 17% Off (Active) – August 2026
Updated in August 2026.
We looked at every Ahrefs promo code and discount out there to find what is real and what isn’t. Ahrefs is one of the few SaaS companies that publicly refuses to run discounts, which makes the coupon landscape around it unusually dishonest. We verified every claim against Ahrefs’ own pricing and help pages so you don’t waste your time. This guide gets updated every month with the most up-to-date information.

Ahrefs Promo Codes for August 2026
After going through every coupon aggregator, “verified discount” blog post, and Reddit thread we could find, we can tell you plainly: there are no valid Ahrefs promo codes, and there never really have been.
This isn’t a case of a code having expired. Ahrefs states it directly in its help center: “We do not offer any promotional or discount codes. Such codes that you find on other websites are not legitimate, and should not be trusted.” The pricing page repeats it in the FAQ: “We never run discounts.”
There is also a structural giveaway that most people miss. Ahrefs’ checkout has no promo code field at all. There is nowhere to type a code even if you had one. So when a page tells you to “copy code AHREFS30 and paste it at checkout,” it is describing a screen that does not exist.
The second giveaway is that Ahrefs shut down its affiliate program back in 2019, and CMO Tim Soulo has written publicly about why. That means the coupon pages ranking for “Ahrefs discount code” aren’t even earning an affiliate commission on Ahrefs itself. They’re monetizing you some other way — usually by capturing your email, redirecting you to a competitor they do have an affiliate deal with, or funneling you toward a group-buy account. Treat every one of them as a trap.
Ahrefs also confirms it doesn’t run seasonal specials, and it names them: no Thanksgiving, no Black Friday, no Cyber Monday. So there’s no point in waiting for November either.
Ahrefs Discounts for August 2026
Promo codes are a dead end, but that doesn’t mean you’re stuck paying list price. Ahrefs has real pricing levers — they’re just structural rather than promotional. Here’s every one that actually works.
Annual billing: up to 17% off (active)
This is the only discount Ahrefs officially advertises, and it’s the single biggest lever for most subscribers.
Paying annually takes up to 17% off Lite, Standard, and Advanced — roughly the equivalent of two free months a year. On Lite that’s about $129/mo down to roughly $107/mo, saving around $260 a year. On Standard, $249/mo drops to about $207/mo, or roughly $500 a year. On Advanced, $449/mo drops to about $373/mo, close to $900 a year.
Two things worth knowing. First, Ahrefs’ pricing page says “save up to 17%” while its help center says “almost 20%” — the pricing page toggle is the number to trust, and the exact annual figure depends on your plan. Second, and this is the annoying part: you can’t switch to annual billing yourself. There’s no toggle in your account settings for it. You have to email support@ahrefs.com or use live chat to make the change. Plenty of people never do, which is effectively a 17% tax on inertia.
Note that the Starter plan is monthly-only and gets no annual discount, and Enterprise already requires an annual commitment.
Ahrefs Free account (active)
If you own the website you’re working on, a meaningful chunk of Ahrefs is free forever. No card, no trial clock, no expiry.
The free account gives you six tools: Site Explorer, Site Audit, Web Analytics, Social Media Manager, AI Content Helper, and the SEO Toolbar. The limits are real but usable — 1,000 backlinks and keywords visible at once in Site Explorer, 5,000 crawl credits per month per project in Site Audit, 1 million events per project in Web Analytics, unlimited social posts and channels, and one AI Content Helper document a month.
Site Explorer, Site Audit, and Web Analytics require you to verify ownership of the site. Social Media Manager, AI Content Helper, and the Toolbar don’t. If you’re a site owner rather than an agency researching other people’s domains, this covers a surprising amount of day-to-day work.
One naming note that trips people up: Ahrefs Free and Ahrefs Webmaster Tools are the same product. AWT was the original name; Ahrefs renamed it as the free account grew beyond SEO.
The Starter plan: $29/mo (active)
The gap between free and Lite is $129/mo, which is a brutal jump for a freelancer or a side project. Starter exists to fill it at $29/mo.
Starter unlocks Keywords Explorer — the single most common reason people upgrade from free — plus the SEO Dashboard, Site Explorer, Site Audit, Rank Tracker, and the Toolbar. You get 200 credits a month, one unverified project, 1 month of historical data, 250 rows per report, 50 Rank Tracker keywords, and up to 800 SERPs with SEO metrics in the Toolbar.
The caps are tight and the export rows are zero, so this isn’t a Lite replacement for anyone doing client work. But if you’re mostly researching keywords for one site, it’s a 78% cheaper way in. Starter renews monthly only and can’t take extra users or credits.
Buying only the tool you need (active)
Most people default to a full plan when they only want one thing. Ahrefs now sells pieces separately, and this is an underused way to cut a bill.
Brand Radar is available standalone from $199/mo, and it comes with an Ahrefs Free account attached. If all you need is AI prompt tracking, the custom prompt packages start at $50/mo for 2,500 checks (Basic), $100/mo for 7,000 checks (Growth), and $250/mo for 25,000 checks (Scale), with overage billed at $0.020, $0.015, and $0.010 per check respectively. Buying Scale instead of stacking overages on Basic is a real per-unit discount if your volume is high.
The flip side is worth watching too: the add-ons stack up fast. Content Kit starts at $99/mo, Report Builder is $99/mo, and Project Boost runs $20/mo per project for Pro or $200/mo per project for Max. Auditing which add-ons you’re actually using is often a bigger saving than any discount.
Prepaying pay-as-you-go credits on an annual plan (active)
This one is buried in the pricing FAQ and almost nobody talks about it. If you’re on an annual plan, you can prepay for additional credits and data at a discounted rate rather than being charged at the standard PAYG rate when you blow past your limits.
Ahrefs doesn’t publish what that discount is, so we can’t give you a number — you’ll need to ask support. But if you regularly overrun your report credits, export rows, crawl credits, or API units, it’s worth the email. PAYG purchases last three billing months including the current one, and your prepaid limits are always consumed first.
Enterprise terms (active, sales-led)
Enterprise is listed at $1,499/mo with an annual commitment required, but that’s a starting point rather than a rate card. It’s the only tier where the conversation is negotiable: uncapped API access, unlimited historical data, personalized higher limits and data exports, SSO, access management, and audit logs.
Ahrefs doesn’t advertise volume discounting the way infrastructure vendors do, and given the company’s public stance on discounts we’d set expectations low on price. What you’re actually negotiating is limits and terms, not the number on the invoice.
What about group buys and resellers? (avoid)
Search “Ahrefs discount” and you’ll hit a wall of sites offering shared Ahrefs access for $0.99 to $15 a month. These are group buys: one account, many strangers, sold on by a middleman.
Ahrefs addresses this directly in its help center. Buying from an unauthorized third party violates the terms of service, and accounts can be “temporary or permanently blocked with no refund.” Beyond the ban risk, you’re handing your keyword research and client domains to an operator you can’t identify, on an account that other people are logged into at the same time.
We’re not counting this as a discount. It’s a different product — an unreliable, rule-breaking one — being sold under Ahrefs’ name.
Are there student, nonprofit, or startup discounts for Ahrefs?
No, on all three, and we can be unusually definite about it.
Nonprofits: Ahrefs’ help center says it plainly — “Currently we do not offer any special pricing, discounts or free access for non-profits.”
Students and educators: there is no official Ahrefs student or education plan. Ahrefs does run a free Academy with video courses and a free certification, and that’s genuinely useful for a student, but it’s training rather than tool access. Some blog posts suggest emailing support to ask about educational pricing. You’re welcome to try, but nothing in Ahrefs’ published policy suggests it will work.
Startups: we found no Ahrefs startup program, and we found no evidence of Ahrefs credits inside the major accelerator perk stacks. Several sites advertise an “Ahrefs discount for startups: 17% off annual” — that is just the standard annual billing discount available to everyone, relabeled to look exclusive. Don’t sign up for a perks platform expecting anything more.
Free trials: also no. Ahrefs states it doesn’t provide free trials and points people to the free account instead. And be aware before you subscribe that Ahrefs “does not issue refunds in general” — you can request one on a monthly subscription only if you haven’t used the service, and they may decline if they see activity on the account.
How to lower your Ahrefs bill without a code
Even with no coupon and no program to apply to, these levers reliably reduce spend.
Switch to annual billing
Up to 17% off, permanent, available to anyone on Lite, Standard, or Advanced. Email support to switch since there’s no self-serve toggle. This is the highest-return five minutes available to any Ahrefs subscriber.
Right-size your plan instead of your discount
The step between tiers is enormous — $129, $249, $449 — so being on the wrong one costs far more than any coupon would have saved. Check what’s actually forcing the upgrade. If it’s rows per report or historical data, you may genuinely need the higher tier. If it’s one extra seat, adding a user to Lite at $40/mo is cheaper than jumping to Standard.
Audit your add-ons and seats
Report Builder at $99/mo, Content Kit from $99/mo, and Project Boost at $20 or $200 per project per month are all easy to switch on and easy to forget. Same with additional users at $40–$100/mo each. A quarterly look at your account settings usually finds something.
Use the free account for site work and pay only for research
If Site Audit, Web Analytics, and basic Site Explorer on your own verified sites cover most of your needs, a free account plus Starter at $29/mo does a lot of what people buy Lite for. Agencies researching competitor domains can’t do this. Solo operators often can.
Use the genuinely free tools before you upgrade
Ahrefs gives away more than most people realize outside the account itself: the free SEO tools (keyword generator, backlink checker, SERP checker, website authority checker, keyword difficulty checker), a suite of free AI writing tools, a free Domain Rating API endpoint, Wordcount, and Firehose for real-time web mentions. None of these need a subscription.
Watch your credit consumption
Credits are the hidden cost driver on Lite, where you get 1,000 per user per month. Standard and above are unlimited. If you’re routinely buying PAYG credits on Lite, the effective cost may already exceed Standard — run that math before you buy another top-up.
Ahrefs Discount Analysis
Ahrefs is the cleanest case we’ve covered on this blog, and also the least generous. Most SaaS companies say they don’t discount and then quietly run nonprofit rates, startup credits, and Black Friday deals. Ahrefs says it doesn’t discount and then actually doesn’t.
That has one useful consequence for you: you can stop looking. With Claude or AWS, the work is figuring out which of a dozen programs you qualify for. With Ahrefs, there are no programs. Every hour spent hunting for an Ahrefs coupon is an hour with a guaranteed return of zero, and the pages promising otherwise are engineered to waste exactly that hour.
So the entire savings picture splits into just two buckets, and neither requires an application.
The first is billing structure: annual billing at up to 17%, and prepaid PAYG credits at whatever rate support quotes you. This is the closest thing to a real discount that exists, it’s open to everyone, and most subscribers who could take it haven’t — largely because switching requires emailing support instead of clicking a toggle. If you do one thing after reading this page, do that one.
The second is consumption: choosing the right tier, shedding add-ons you forgot about, buying Brand Radar or a prompt package standalone rather than a whole plan, and pushing whatever work you can onto the free account and the free tools. This bucket has no ceiling. Dropping from Standard to Lite plus an extra seat saves $80/mo indefinitely, which beats the 17% annual discount on Standard outright.
The trap to name explicitly is the third bucket that looks like savings and isn’t. Group-buy accounts at $0.99/mo are not a 99% discount; they’re a terms violation with a documented ban-and-no-refund outcome, sold by people who also have your login. Coupon sites offering “verified working” codes are pointing at a checkout field that doesn’t exist. And “Ahrefs for startups” pages are reselling the public annual discount as an exclusive perk. All three are the same business model in different clothes: your attention, monetized against a discount that was never there.
The honest summary: Ahrefs is expensive, it will stay expensive, and the only real question is whether you’re on the right plan and the right billing cycle. Get those two right and you’ve captured essentially everything available.
FAQ
Does Ahrefs have a promo code?
No. Ahrefs states in its help center that it does not offer promotional or discount codes and that codes found elsewhere are not legitimate. There is no code field at Ahrefs checkout.
Does Ahrefs ever do Black Friday deals?
No. Ahrefs explicitly names Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday as promotions it does not run.
What is the cheapest legitimate way to use Ahrefs?
The free Ahrefs account for your own verified sites, then the Starter plan at $29/mo if you need Keywords Explorer. Above that, annual billing on Lite is the cheapest full-featured route.
Is there an Ahrefs free trial?
No. Ahrefs doesn’t offer trials. The free account is the substitute, and unlike a trial it doesn’t expire.
How much do you save with Ahrefs annual billing?
Up to 17% off Lite, Standard, and Advanced, which works out to roughly two months free. You have to contact Ahrefs support to switch — there’s no self-serve option.
Are Ahrefs group buys safe?
No. Ahrefs’ terms prohibit buying access from unauthorized third parties, and accounts can be blocked permanently with no refund. You’re also sharing an account with strangers.
Does Ahrefs offer nonprofit or student pricing?
No to both. Ahrefs’ help center confirms there’s no nonprofit pricing, and there’s no official student or education plan. The free Ahrefs Academy and certification are the closest thing.
Can I get a refund from Ahrefs?
Generally no. Ahrefs doesn’t issue refunds as a rule. On monthly subscriptions you can request one if you haven’t used the service, but the request may be declined if there’s activity on the account.
