There is a lot of waste in AI and software.

Microsoft’s EVP told engineers “tokenmaxxing is not what we are optimizing for” on a recent email, according to reports.

Microsoft has also cancelled Claude Code licenses back in May and recently moved to a cheaper ChatGPT model. AT&T, Meta, Uber, Walmart, and Amazon have also capped AI spend.

Speaking of licenses, 50% of all software licenses go unused

This trend of companies being more conscious about their AI, software, and infrastructure spend seems to be ramping up.

So here are a few partner solutions on NachoNacho that will save you a lot of money.

Ramp ($1,000 sign-up bonus)

  • Issue a card per vendor, per team, or per project, with hard dollar limits and approval workflows.
  • Automatic categorization and receipt matching feeds straight into your accounting stack, so your team stops reconciling spreadsheets at month-end.
  • Spots duplicate subscriptions and price creep across the whole company.

SpendHound (free forever, plus $500 gift card)

  • Vendor management and renewal tracking, built around real pricing data.
  • Benchmarks what you’re paying against 50,000 vendors.
  • Connects to your ERP and billing systems to auto-organize subscriptions, track renewal dates, and flag redundancies before they auto-renew.

ElasticScale (Pay only for what you save)

  • A managed AWS partner for B2B SaaS startups and scaleups.
  • Pay only on what you save. They take a cut of what they actually save you. No savings, no fee.
  • Zero-downtime AWS migrations, plus ongoing managed operations: monitoring, security, and performance tuning.

What Else is Happening in the Software industry?

Claude text will now be watermarked

Last week, Anthropic announced they were going to add metadata to any text generated by Claude. Essentially a watermark that you can’t remove. They are doing this to comply with the EU AI act. This seemingly includes text that was corrected or slightly edited. Any words that Claude generated will carry the watermark. Here’s how it works.

X algorithm now is open source

Finally one of the largest social media platforms open sources their post recommendation algorithm, which means you can now look exactly how the code works and improve your X strategy. View the repo here.
